“Do Knot Pass Kinks…..”

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

This photo shows (literally) a knot in the hoseline. It is everyones responsibility to chase kinks on the fireground, regardless of the color of your helmet (and how red your frontpiece is!!!!). If staffing on your Fire Department does not put someone on the Engine in charge of chasing kinks and feeding hose to the Nozzle Team, team-up [...]

Roll Call…..

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

An excellent video on the email circuit and “The Secret List” shows a great portable (extension) ladder rescue(s) by FDNY Firefighters in the Bronx. Moreover, the video correlates to an earlier post on thehousewatch.com  that built on an earlier report by Firefighter Spot , about local municipality(s) code requirements for Child-Guard window gates; plus a method for their removal when we need to enter [...]

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

When you walk the vendor(s) floor at various Fire Conferences, you inevitably pass by the “Junk Booths” that try to sell you the latest expensive chock gizmo. Pretty colors and flashing lights on door chocks seems like a great idea, however, if you forget to grab your chocks on the way out like I do…..Anyway, stick to wood door [...]
